Guidelines for financial proof in study permit applications
Updated over 2 weeks ago

When applying for a study permit in Canada, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself and any accompanying family members during your entire period of study. This includes covering tuition fees, living expenses, transportation costs to and from Canada, and any other associated fees without relying on employment within Canada.

To support your study permit application, your submission must include a clear explanation of your financial plan. Clearly outline the sources of your funds and their equivalent value in Canadian dollars. This explanation can be included in your Letter of Explanation or as a separate cover letter accompanying your financial proof.

Passage Financial Coverage

Provide a detailed rationale for your selection of Passage, including the specific amount it covers for your tuition and living expenses (if applicable). Include your “Passage Pass,” "Confirmation of living expenses," "Confirmation of tuition fee," and this additional file as proof.

Additional Financial Resources

Detail any other financial resources you have available to cover expenses not covered by Passage. These resources may include both liquid assets (such as bank statements) and illiquid assets (such as property or investments).

Repayment of Passage Loan

Provide a plan for how you intend to repay any loans from Passage without relying on employment in Canada during your studies. This plan might include financial support from family members, income from sources in your home country, such as employment, or monthly rental income from properties. Remember
